PPG just reached a giving milestone that deserves industry applause.
Ten years ago, PPG launched the Colorful Communities program. The charitable initiative helps communities as volunteers help transform their communities with free products from the leading paint manufacturer.
In the past 10 years, the Colorful Communities program has helped more than 10.2 million people in over 50 countries, according to PPG.
This week PPG announced that it was celebrating the decade of giving by returning to the school where it all started.
The Propel Hazelwood charter school in PPG’s home base of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was the first project undertaken under the Colorful Communities program.
“This school is where it all started,” said Malesia Dunn, executive director, PPG Foundation and corporate global social responsibility. “We’re thrilled to return as we build on our partnership with Propel and protect and beautify spaces where students in our hometown can feel supported and engaged.”
When the students return this fall, they will find renewed doorways and a snazzy new look for the cafeteria. Even the mascot on the basketball floor got a bright makeover.
The Propel Hazelwood project is one of 10 that PPG is executing to celebrate the 10 year anniversary.
If you are interested in giving back to your community, another way to do so is through the Paint it Forward campaign.
