In the darkest times, painting contractors can make a big difference.
In January, Northeast Philadelphia experienced a horrific plane crash when a medical jet fell out of the sky and crashed into a busy street.
Six people on the plane–including an 11-year-old girl who had just received life-saving treatment–died instantly in the wreckage.
But that wasn’t the full extent of the victims. Stephen Dreuitt was driving his car with his family when the plane crashed near them. He died at the scene, his girlfriend Dominique Goods-Burke died of her injuries three months later, and a child suffered burns over 90% of his body.
Amira Brown, Stephen Dreuitt’s mother, is still mourning. When local painting contractor Andrew Tomasetti of Paint Philadelphia heard her story, he wanted to help.
Now Brown is getting her home painted for free courtesy of Tomasetti.
“This just feels like something, a little bit of hope we could give her to show her and her family that we support her and that we’re here for her,” he told a local TV station.
This act of kindness shows what a big difference painting contractors can make in their communities. If you’d like to do something similar, contact the PCA’s Paint it Forward.
