American Painting Contractor

New Voice at APC

You’ve probably noticed a bit of a change with APC. This issue has a new look to it, and some recent articles have a new tone. We can thank – and I most definitely do thank – our new Editor-in-Chief, Kevin Hoffman, for that!

He’s already brought new energy to APC – a fresh perspective and new ideas. And when you’re in the business of engaging thousands of professionals, a fresh perspective is a wonderful thing.

His write-up on PPG’s recent announcement was the best explanation I’ve seen on a very nuanced topic. His use of images and illustrations in this issue shows there’s far more to being an Editor than just writing. And if you read his piece about vegan paint, you learned he also has fun with his work.

Kevin is a true professional, and if you know me, I take that term seriously. Professionals aren’t hobbyists. They’re not dabbling and kicking tires. Professionals are committed to their work. Professionals hold themselves to high standards and deliver stellar results. I hope you think of yourself and your team the same way.

Granted, hiring is often a brutal process, and turnover makes us cringe. But Kevin is a wonderful reminder that fresh blood can offer a huge upside. An excellent new hire brings tremendous opportunity for growth … a chance to see things in a new light.

I’m especially grateful to have been able to introduce Kevin to the painting industry via the PCA Expo. No surprise, he was impressed with the energy, professionalism, compassion, and commitment of the contractors there in Orlando.

So please, enjoy Kevin’s work, follow him on Facebook (“Kevin Paintmag”), and you’ll hear him soon on APC’s Podcast, “Paint Radio.” And I hope you all have as much success with your new hires as I am!
