Charity never stops. Good-hearted people donate clothes and other items they no longer need every day of the year.
These donations get processed in warehouses and distributed to Goodwill stores for people to buy at a fraction of the price the products would cost new.
So imagine what happens when you get hired to paint one of those huge warehouses while it’s still up and running.
Brassberrys—a portmanteau of owners Nick Brassfield and Carole Amsberry Anderson—has long been a go-to for corporations in Arizona. In fact, Brassberrys won a TOP JOB award in 2021 for
painting Goodwill’s corporate headquarters.
Still, this was a new and different challenge. Goodwill wanted the walls to be as white as a hospital. The slightest imperfections would stand out like red wine on a wedding dress.
The project unfolded over nine months, on and off, as the scope widened.
“The original blueprints looked easy, but it was a bigger endeavor,” Brassfield said. “It was so ongoing that we could even leave and paint a house and come back.”
Nevertheless, the small team at Brassberrys—Nick, Carole, and three others— managed to complete the project without getting in the way of the charity work.
Clearly they did a bang-up job because Brassberrys is already hard at work on another painting project for Goodwill.
“Goodwill is a great organization with a wonderful mission,” Brassfield said, “and we were happy to contribute to their success with this project.”
