When a child is hurt or sick, the most important thing they need is reassurance.
So when you get a chance to paint a children’s hospital, your goal is to put smiles on kids’ faces.
Cherry Coatings got the chance to do just that with this children’s hospital, a 365,000-sq.-ft., 52-bed facility for women and children.
The hospital offers neonatal and pediatric intensive care units, operating rooms, diagnostic imaging, and more. The building was a new construction; Cherry Coatings put on the finishing touches.
On a job this big, logistics can be overwhelming. Cherry Coatings had to juggle more than 30 painters in multiple locations, from interior to exterior and even a garage. Each area required different sheens, from flat to semi-gloss and high gloss. Keeping it all straight was like solving a Rubik’s Cube with 50 colors.
“Foreman Alexia Barrios went above and beyond, maintaining intense organization of the shop area and implementing a Visual Production Plan,” said Scott Voelker, project manager. “With this, team members were able to clearly visualize their assigned tasks and easily access the correct materials needed. Alexia studied construction plans during evenings and nights, coming in early the next day to prepare materials for the team. Her dedication and leadership pushed the team to succeed in this massive job.”
We’re sure the children will appreciate the effort.
