Meticulous prep brings a dream house to life

It can be hard for some customers to visualize color.

We’ve all seen the color fan decks that show off a range of hues like a hand of poker. Another common tool are sample quarts, which you can apply directly to the substrate for customers to see how the applied color looks in natural light.

Ai Painting Plus took it one step further: They made a coloring book.

First you have to understand the house. The second floor has a decorative pattern that looks like peacock feathers. The colors were fading pastel like a well-worn Easter basket.

It’s understandable that it was hard for the customer to visualize a new look. With the kaleidoscope of blue, yellow, and pink, the pattern of the substrate gets lost in visual static.

So Ai Painting Plus took a novel approach.

“To aid in the decision-making process, we created large-scale, black-and-white coloring pages of the home, which were hand-colored to showcase potential patterns and colors,” the company said. “This allowed the client to visualize the finished product and select a pattern that met their vision.”

The client selected a more muted and elegant blend of cool blues, whites, and burgundy.

Preparation was no easy task. Ai Painting Plus pressure washed, scraped, sanded, caulked, and repaired rotten wood to get the exterior ready for the new paint. The house took two coats on the siding, trim, columns and doors.

“The intricate diamond and circular scale pattern on the upper facade required precise hand-painting, which added to the overall uniqueness of the project,” the company said. “The result is a stunning, durable exterior that enhances the home’s curb appeal.”

All told the project took four crew members six weeks to complete. They also battled extreme heat that had to be waited out to avoid compromising the paint.

“The best part was witnessing the transformation of the home and the utter joy from the clients,” the company said. “Seeing their excitement as the design came to life made all the effort worthwhile.”

Who wouldn’t want to live in a coloring book?
