The home was a family legacy.
When the married couple approached Shane First, they were still months out from purchasing the home built by the husband’s grandfather.
It was a beautiful home, but showing its age. The house was in need of significant repairs to the drywall, ceiling, and cabinetry. An unexpected mold issue compounded the challenge; while a surprise problem with a product posed a baffling hurdle with a surprising solution.
Phase 1 focused on repair. The team sanded the cabinets down to bare wood, applied bonding primer, and rebuilt the coating.
The bathroom had mildew stains, cracking, and peeling. To deal with the water issues, the team installed new bath fans. The surfaces were scraped then primed with oil-based sealer.
The laundry room became a problem when mold was discovered. This required protective measures and adjusted sequencing.
A more intractable issue arose in the office, where cabinets developed fluorescent streams. Despite sanding, recoating, and testing multiple different sprayers, nothing on site could solve the problem.
Once they consulted their rep, they learned that the product batch had been recalled. Once they got a fresh, untainted batch, the coating worked flawlessly.
“Our team’s ability to troubleshoot, adapt, and seek support ensured we overcame these challenges while maintaining our high standards,” Shane Fast said.
All told, the project required 10 unique colors and over 16 topcoats. A team of six, led by the production manager, completed the work in three and a half weeks.
During that time they developed a report with the client. So much so that the team even held their quarterly awards meeting in the kitchen they had just finished.
