A stunning staircase required Rolex precision
Beverly Hills, California
Roy Miller Painting – “Our team had to navigate tight working conditions, coordinate with other trades, and adapt to unexpected challenges – all while ensuring the highest quality standards.”
Owning a Rolex is a status symbol. Since its founding in 1905 by Hans Wilsdorf, the Swiss brand has been synonymous with precision and quality.
Rolex watches are built to last, undergoing rigorous testing to ensure durability even under extreme conditions. That has made them among the most recognized brands worldwide.
When your brand is all about precision and durability, you can’t risk sloppy work in the showroom.
Roy Miller Painting was contacted by a manufacturer of spiral staircases that needed immediate assistance. The job involved applying a flawless, automotive, high-polish finish to a massive, three-story spiral staircase in the newly remodeled Rolex store on Rodeo Drive in Beverly HIlls.
“Our team had to navigate tight working conditions, coordinate with other trades, and adapt to unexpected challenges–all while ensuring the highest quality standards,” said Roy Miller. “Despite the obstacles, we delivered a mirror-like finish on time for the grand opening.”
The job began with grinding and Bondo work, followed by epoxy priming. Next, the crew applied the color coat, spot primed, and recoated where necessary. After the final coat, they topped it off with a high-gloss clear finish, let it cure, then buffed it to a reflective shine.
“The project spanned 60 days, requiring night shifts and up to seven days a week of work to ensure the deadline was met,” said Roy Miller.
The work was accomplished by a rotating team of six to seven crew members at a time, strategically working shifts to maximize efficiency and allow for proper drying time.
Working around the other trades also required diligence. Each day, the team tented the staircase to create a dust-free environment and prevent overspray on adjacent surfaces.
“The most rewarding aspect was overcoming the challenges and witnessing the staircase transform into a breathtaking, high-gloss architectural centerpiece,” Roy Miller said. “Contributing to such a prestigious project and delivering a flawless finish on time for the grand opening was a proud achievement for our team.”
